We had a very successful visit as both the Mayor and Mayoress were excellent hosts. They greeted us on entry and we were taken to the Council Chambers where the Mayor explained the history of this chamber and the seating arrangements for the Councillors. He also explained his role during debates.
We were then ushered to the Parlour where Dotty presented the Mayoress with a bouquet of flowers. The Mayor gave a short talk about the Parlour. We were captivated by the pictures and dazzled by the silverware and associated History.
Tea, Coffee and a variety of cakes were served by the Mayoress and time was set aside for questions.
On behalf of WS-PPG Carers’ Café, Vice Chair Hay Sharma thanked the Mayor and Mayoress for their generous hospitality and inspiring and enjoyable visit. He also informed the group we have a “daredevil” mayor due to this article in the Coventry Telegraph:
Current mayor, Cllr Bill Hancox is about to tick something off his bucket list- a wingwalk – all in aid of his civic appeal for the Lymphoedema clinic which serves Nuneaton, Bedworth and much further afield.
“I don’t think any other mayor has done anything like this before,” the 64-year-old said.
