There have been changes to how GP services are delivered at Whitestone Surgery.
GP services at the surgery were previously provided under the management of Dr Sacha Simon. Following an inspection of Whitestone Surgery, CQC has taken urgent action to suspend the provider from being able to carry out regulated activities at the medical centre for six months. The provider has the right to appeal and further information will be published by CQC when they are able to do so. However, this means that Dr Simon is unable to arrange and manage how care is provided at the surgery at this time.
NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board is responsible for ensuring patients have continued access to GP services and to support patients during this period of disruption. A locum GP and practice manager were immediately put in place and have been delivering all booked appointments as normal. Patients have also continued to be able to book appointments with the practice.
The ICB is has now put in place longer term caretaking arrangements to prevent disruption to services. Starting from 29 January 2024 the Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance will be delivering GP services for patients from the Whitestone Surgery building over the six-month period.
Minimal impact on services
We cannot comment on the CQC’s current process, but want to assure patients that we are doing all we can to support them during this period of disruption. It is the priority of the ICB to ensure that GP services are maintained for all patients registered at Whitestone Surgery.
If you need a GP appointment, a repeat prescription or want to see the practice nurse, you can continue to use the normal process of booking online or telephone the surgery on the usual number to book and attend services as normal.
The ICB will consider next steps for delivering care for the patients of Whitestone Surgery once the CQC process has been completed. We are committed to involving the local community in all decisions and will announce the next steps as soon as we are able to.
